Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to the FAMA Bilingual Center for Family Caregivers (FAMA Center).  The FAMA Center respects your privacy and is committed to the privacy of all users of this website.  This policy specifies what data we collect and how we use it.   

Information We Collect

The FAMA Center may collect personal information from online users in a variety of ways including information on the contact us page, join our newsletter option or email communication.  The data may include: name, email address, phone numbers and URL.  The FAMA Center may also collect information about how users access the website using a tracking ID unique to each user through the use of cookies.  The FAMA Center does not give any person or company access to your personal information.

Children’s Privacy

We do not intend to solicit personally identifying information from children. Visitors who are under 18 years of age should ask their parent or guardian for guidance before they enter any personal information on our website.

What are Cookies?

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We may use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For session ID cookies, once you close your browser or log out, the cookie terminates and is erased. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on your computer’s hard drive for an extended period of time. Session ID cookies may be used by the FAMA Center to track user preferences while the user is visiting the website. They also help to minimize load times and save on server processing. Persistent cookies may be used by the FAMA Center to store whether, for example, you want your password remembered or not, and other information. Cookies used on the FAMA Center website do not contain personally identifiable information.

Log Files

Like most standard websites, we use log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. However, none of the information stored in our log files, including but not limited to IP addresses, is linked to personally identifiable information.

How We Use and Share Information

The FAMA Center may use the personally identifiable information collected by the FAMA Center to contact customers regarding products and services offered by the FAMA Center and, to the extent the user has agreed to it, by its trusted affiliates, independent contractors and business partners. We may also use this information and share it with trusted third parties for research purposes regarding the effectiveness of our website services, marketing, advertising and sales efforts, including, without limitation, for purposes of customer reviews (such as for the utilization of programs like Google Seller Ratings). The FAMA Center will not sell or otherwise share this information with a third party for a third party’s marketing purposes, unless you specifically authorize such information sharing.

Email Notifications

FAMA Center users may join the newsletter list-serve to receive e-newsletters or emails with information relevant to our services.  If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from the FAMA Center email list, you may do so by emailing info@famacenter.org with "unsubscribe" in the subject heading and we will remove your name from our lists. We will act quickly to implement such requests, but please note there may be time lags of up to a month to remove names from our database.

Legally-Required Disclosures

Though we make every effort to preserve your privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law, or if the FAMA Center believes that disclosure is necessary to protect the FAMA Center’s rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, subpoena or other legal process.  The FAMA Center may also disclose information about you if we determine that for national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary.

Financial Transactions

If you make a financial contribution to the FAMA Center, the transaction is completed by clicking on the PayPal button and then routing to PayPal, a secure online payment system.  The FAMA Center does not receive any payment information other than your name, email address and amount of contribution.

Third Party Websites

The FAMA Center website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that the FAMA Center is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. The FAMA Center Privacy Policy as described herein applies solely to information collected by the FAMA Center.
